Do you take as much care of your neck as you do your face?

The neck ages for all the same reasons as the skin on our face.

Collagen Degradation

The dermis, the layer of skin that contains collagen, is very thin, making it more prone to ageing than other parts of the body. Most of us give our neck less attention when it comes to sun protection and skincare, too. Cumulative sun exposure over a lifetime has always been the main cause of crepey skin and wrinkles in this area.

We also spend a lot of time bent forward on our devices, which presses the wrinkles into the neck more firmly into place. Known as a tech neck!

SKIN BOOSTERS

Despite being primarily designed to hydrate the skin from within, skin boosters can also firm and tighten the skin through a process called ‘‘Bioremodelling’’.

This process stimulates the skin to increase it’s collagen and elastin production, resulting in smoother, firmer and tighter skin.

CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical peels can effectively address wrinkles and pigmentation on the neck by:

Exfoliating the skin removing the outer layer of damaged skin, stimulating cell turnover and revealing smoother, more evenly pigmented skin underneath.

Stimulating collagen production can help improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Targeting pigmentation with AHA ingredients such as Glycolic acid and Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) can help to lighten dark spots and hyperpigmentation on the neck, resulting in more even skin tone.

MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling also stimulates collagen and elastin production as it triggers the body’s healing process when the tiny needles create tiny controlled micro-injuries to the neck. This improves the skin texture, firmness and overall appearance as well as helps to reduce pigmentation issues such as skin spots or age spots.

Additionally, microneedling allows for better penetration of topical skincare products.

LED LIGHT THERAPY WITH THE DERMALUX FLEX

Clinically proven light wavelengths ( NOT TO BE MISTAKEN FOR UV LIGHT) are applied to the skin to create energy which in turn supercharges our cell function and accelerates our rejuvenation and repair processes.

BLUE LIGHT to destroy acne-causing bacteria

RED LIGHT to boost collagen production

NEAR INFRARED LIGHT to reduce inflammation, accelerate healing and relieve pain.

As the light triggers a whole cascade of cell-activating processes, the benefits continue even after the treatment has finished.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN YOUR SKINCARE

Retinoids, Peptides, Hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C, Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’S), and Niacinamide all target various aspects of skin ageing by increasing cell turnover, stimulating collagen and elastin, hydrating the skin, exfoliating the skin by removing dead skin cells and improving the skin barrier function.

It is very important to note that consistency is key with all these treatments and it is essential to use sunscreen daily to protect the skin from further sun damage.
