My top 3 products for younger looking skin |
When it comes to skincare, there are so many different options for sale out there, it becomes so confusing, we just don’t know what to buy. I’m always happy to guide you and recommend products to suit your budget and maximise your results and protect your skin. Our skin serves as a barrier to protect underlying tissues and organs. It is the largest organ in our body. Our skin is exposed to the UV rays from the sun, and pollutants in the air. The skin on our face and neck is the most vulnerable as we don’t cover it up as much as the rest of the body. Makes sense to protect it then. |
Sunscreen |
A high quality SPF is a priority in your skincare. You need to use a factor 30, or ideally 50. This will help reduce the damage caused by UV rays, such as pigmentation, fine lines, redness and sunspots. |
Antioxidant |
This will help to protect your skin cells from internal and external damage that leads to signs of ageing and worsening of skin quality over time. Vitamin C is an excellent antioxidant and is added into many skin care ranges or on its own as a serum. Best used in the morning under your sunscreen. |
Retinoid |
This group of active ingredients comes in a few different forms and can be very confusing to understand. In simple terms they are all Vitamin A They include Retinol esters, Retinol, Retinaldehyde and Retinoic acid. Retinoic acid being the strongest retinoid and Retinol esters the least strongest. Retinoids speed up the turn over of your cells leading to improved texture, tone and reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. They all achieve the same general outcome but using retinol esters or retinol will take longer to see results. That is because in order for the cells under the skin, in the dermis to be able to benefit the retinoid needs to be changed into retinoic acid in the body . Another name for retinoic acid is Tretinoin. A word of caution, it is common to get dryness, redness, itchy and flaky skin when you first start using retinoids. It is advisable to start off gently and use it sparingly once to 3 times a week but eventually aiming for the goal of daily use. It is best used at night time. It must be pointed out that Tretinoin can only be bought on prescription by a reputable prescriber. At Judy B Aesthetics we are able to prescribe Prescription skin care products such as Tretinoin.
